Are You Trendy?
Trends, trends and more trends! Everything seems to come in trends – food, fashion, hairstyles, and more. Homes aren’t any different. Right now, there are several things that we, as Realtors, see trending. Here are a few:
- Smaller homes
More and more, we are seeing sellers downsizing and buyers buying smaller homes. It seems that people are less
interested in having a big home with the big bills. Today’s buyers are much more conservative with their spending whether they are first time home buyers or not.
- Solar panels
You can drive almost anywhere in this area and see solar panels. They’re the large rectangles you see on roofs that are facing south where they receive the most sunlight. Solar panels are designed to absorb the sun’s rays and use the energy from those rays to generate electricity for your home.
- Carrara marble
We think it’s safe to say that almost everyone loves marble. Whether you have marble countertops, floors or a marble fireplace, marble polishes up nicely and gives a shiny, clean look to your home. It really is beautiful and trendy.
Today, we also see a lot of homes with quartz countertops. Quartz has come a long way and looks much like granite or marble but it is stain resistant. You can pour a glass of red wine on quartz, leave it there overnight, and there will be no stain when you clean it up in the morning.
- Concrete countertops
While we see mostly granite and quartz, we are also seeing more concrete counter tops. Concrete is a great option for those who are looking for artisan-crafted customization with color and layout as well as an option that is nearly indestructible.
- 5 Inch Hardwood
Two-inch hardwood used to be what you’d see in any house that had hardwood floors. That’s not the case today. Many people are building and remodeling their homes with five-inch hardwood.
- Scraped Hardwood Flooring
Gaining in popularity is the scraped hardwood flooring, also known as sculptured, with its classic look. It brings an old-time warmth and atmosphere to a modern home. This type of floor has a unique texture so that when you knick or scratch it, it’s not noticeable.
- Luxury vinyl tile
Luxury vinyl tile looks and feels like stone or ceramic tile. The great thing is that it’s not as cold or hard on your back when standing on it for long periods, making it a great option in kitchens and bathrooms. Another bonus is that it tends to be cheaper than ceramic tile but more durable and easier to keep clean.
